Frequently Asked Questions
How is the TNEB bill calculated?
The bill is calculated based on slab rates set by TNEB. For consumption up to 500 units (bi-monthly), the New Scheme applies with 200 free units. For consumption above 500 units, the Existing Tariff applies with 100 free units. Each slab has a different per-unit rate.
What is the New Scheme for ≤500 units?
Under the New Scheme, the first 200 units are free. Units between 201-400 are charged at ₹4.70/unit and units between 401-500 are charged at ₹6.30/unit.
What is the Existing Tariff for >500 units?
Under the Existing Tariff, the first 100 units are free. Subsequent slabs are: 101-400 at ₹4.70/unit, 401-500 at ₹6.30/unit, 501-600 at ₹8.40/unit, 601-800 at ₹9.45/unit, 801-1000 at ₹10.50/unit, and above 1000 at ₹11.55/unit.
Does this include fixed charges or taxes?
This calculator includes only the energy charges based on slab rates. TNEB bills may also include fixed charges (based on connected load), FPPCA surcharge, electricity tax, and other statutory fees which are not included here.
Is the consumption for one month or two months?
TNEB bills are issued bi-monthly (once every two months). The slab rates shown here apply to the bi-monthly consumption. Enter your total consumption as shown on your bill for accurate calculation.
